I was just reminded while arranging a test car, that my UK Driving License was due for renewal in April as it is nearly 10 years old. I had not "appreciated" that fact, but had remembered you need to renew if;
- You change address / You reach 70 years old / You change your name/marry / Driving offences
I did some research and there are now several 'Official' means of renewing;
- Yourself via the DVLA via post : £20 Cost using a D1/D798 form with you providing a new photo
- Yourself via Direct.Gov online : £20 Cost, but ONLY if you have also renewed your Passport in last 5 years (they can access your Passport Photo !)
- The Post Office Counter Services cost (£20) + Driving License Renewal Service (checking & delivery charge of £4.50, includes a new photo)
The Fine is £1000 if stopped for any other driving related issue and can invalidate your vehicle Insurance ..Gulp
Be aware of Unofficial Driving License Renewal websites that willl charge a substantial premium for no added value or purpose.....
