Remote control bank mowing

Does anyone on here do remote controlled bank mowing? We currently use our Hybot the only one in the country and have been please with the results, up until then we used a Spider which I wouldn't rate at all due to its size and height plus its on wheels not tracks like the Hybot.

Any chance of posting some pictures and detailing how and where you use them ?

They've intrigued me since I saw similar demo'd at Saltex.

With HSE getting so hot on Grounds Contractors, I suspect we could all be 'pushed' down this route. I know I hate dealing with some of the banks on our sites :-(

  • I will try and post a picture of it now

That's neat. It's more compact then other examples I have seen.

Come on spill the beans ..I want to know more (and I suspect so do a few others ;-)

We have bigger and steeper banks than shown in the photo on a number of industrial sites and they are very difficult to strim as well as an accident waiting to happen, so would be very interested in these machines. Are you able to quote prices ?.
  • Its a long story but in a nutshell we bought it two years ago from the USA and at the same time became the UK dealer, however I have not sold any as yet as I wanted to fully test and trial it, I have now located any flaws and I am in the process of modifying and changing things as and when I have the spare time and money. Once I have got it right we are going to reproduce it here in the UK and sell them for around the £19K mark. It runs a 18.5hp Briggs and stratton engine, remote blade start, remote engine start, four motors, 44 inch cut, twin mulching blades, cuts as low as 25mm and upto 150mm with simple height lever adjustment, the finish it leaves is brilliant and it can climb slopes up to about 50 degrees. It will also have a canopy covering the engine (with vents) and other moving parts.

  • Its the cheapest on the market, next after that is the Ransomes Spider which is about 27K then the roboflail at about 32K

Jon, I can see the ROI for contractors who deal with highways or LA contractors etc, but is there a case for some form of  offering to enable smaller contractors to hire ?

Like for us, we are contracted to cut banks around two balance ponds at a business park, where RAMS would suggest we look for alternatives to strimming ? We could not currently justify costs, but maybe could cost in hire charges ?
