Red diesel

Trying to make sense of the usage restrictions as from April for legal use of red diesel.

Only affects us for our Forst chipper, from our understanding it's ok to use red if it's for forestry work but not ok for other tree work, the regulations are a typical government mess and am struggling to get a definitive answer.

Be grateful if anyone can clarify.

Our flail hedge cutting contractors are in a more difficult position, they're ok to use red for roadside hedges and verges but if they enter a site it's illegal to use red, needless to say they will be using the Ostrich principal!!

Presumably there will be people who now need to fill tanks that have red diesel up with white, so even if people are buying white it is going to be stained red in the tank.

I cannot see how this is going to be policed over the next few years.
