today is the first real rain we have had for about 4 months it started about 1pm and is still raining all my waterbutts are overflowing

  • Yes indeed, it got a bit soggy where I was as it wasn't penetrating the ground!

    • This is true. I planted some 2M laurels last week. Once you get more than a foot down, the soil is still bone dry. It was like talcum powder!  I'm sure we'll have plenty enough rain soon though, that dry spell is just a memory now.

  • Been raining here in Cheshire pretty badly most of the week. I'd forgotten how much of a joy cutting long wet grass is :)

    • Yes, I'm based in Cheshire, Thursday was horrid and I packed up at 3.
