No come across Romanian Oak - but used to buy (french) oak from this lot - it may have originated in Romania ? ask them ..?
UK SLEEPERS
I've used oak sleepers from Romania. My supplier says they should last 30 years but they are a bit waney and have less straight edges (which some customers like). I've started using Canadian oak which he also supplies, it has more straight edges and so a lot easier to work with
Thank y9u for your comments and tips! I ended up buying English Oak from my local timber yard because they had it in stock, could give good advise and delivered for free (whcihwould have added a good £100 to ALL other places I enquired about this).
So I am happy wihtmy purchase now, and pretty sure that I have good sleepers taht will survive many decades without much treatment as steps and grassborder, and will age (I hope) beautifully ove rthe next months and years.
