I think as soon as you metion trees the cover assumes you are a tree surgeon and goes stupid.
Farmers mutuals normally allow up to 6 or 7 metres
We are with Covea (via A-Plan) and it covers felling and lopping of trees to 5m.
We are also with A-Plan brokers for all our insurances and would highy recommend them. I need to ensure our liability, unit, vehicles and guys are all effectively covered.
They easily negotiated the required "Endorsements" with the Underwriters to provide simialr cover to that of Nick for minor tree works (and we're not full-on tree surgeons), sorted cover for winter gritting and basic estate maintenance repairs etc.
Every year we get a document, followed by a 'review' to ensure, at renewal, it still covers us for what we do.
I know for "vanillia flavour' insurance you can do it all online, but once you get into specifics, good brokers have the experience/knowledge and whole of market to work with.
I see little point in having a dog and barking myself.....
Many thanks for recommendation of a plan I have a call booked with them tomorrow. Cheers
Just use a broker ? Tell them your specifications they need to be included.
I use direct line they will allow felling of small trees, pretty sure NFU do as well.
Covea Insurance are good for this (as others have mentioned). We use them for Gardeners as they include the felling or lopping of trees up to 5 metres in height. £1,000,000 cover is around £65 per year via our scheme with them.
NFU brilliant dealt with them for 20 hrs where you can actually talk to real people in normal language
good luck
Before retiring I was with AXA. I don't remember pruning restrictions but no lopping over about 4.5m or similar. But it may well have changed now. Certainly is not cheap. Made first contact by phone and they were very helpful. Was with them for over 14 years
