Has anyone any experience of getting rid of horsetail in a gravel garden?I have hand treated with concentrated roundup painted on. It wasn't a problem before when first visited garden when it was just a tired lawn and weeds (was just in one corner)! But since heavy guage builders polythene plastic has been put down it seems to have grown rampant underneath this and is popping up and where there is a gap or small drainage hole or edge where stepping stones were placed in direct contact with soil. Its also coming up through landscape fabric (mypex) would you believe!!I know it tends to die off in winter time,

  • Its best to bruise the weed first before spraying. I tend to stand on it so it is flat to the ground. this makes the chemicals stay on the plant and tends to have better affects. I sprayed some about 4 weeks ago in a garden and i have to say using the above method has affected at least 90% of it.. However it will take time.
  • I understood from recent posts that "Kibosh" was effective on Horsetail or am I getting confused with Marestail? I know people often confuse the 2.
