Private Health Care and other "benefits in kind"

As a business owner (sole trader with/out employees or Ltd Co. ), do you provide any form of private health care/insurance for yourself - If so, why ? and what type ?

Would you consider extending this to an employee(s)to help protect your business ?

Additionally, have you ever considered any form of Income Protection ?

Looking for feedback from anyone that has gone down this route or has seriously considered it...

It was this post : http://www.landscapejuicenetwork.com/forum/topics/the-cost-of-being-ill-and-self-employed : that got me thinking ...and considering...and worrying ;-) but noticed few had any cover.

I worry that if I or one of my key guys goes off ill/injured then the business would suffer - just not for me but everyone's connected family

I assume the lack of replies means not many are covered? I fell off my tall steps about a month ago and was very lucky not to break my back. It got me thinking about it (although I've not actually done anything about it) apart from not stretching when at the top of steps. Doh!

Ive got private Health care through Bupa, had it about 9 years now... here is my story (if your interested).

Playing Football, damged my knee couldnt walk for 2 weeks, went to doctors, waited months to see a specialist, then waited months to get an MRI scan, 12 months later had a routine cartilage op, didnt feel right at all, went to see doctor, refered me to specialist, 8 months later had another operation.
(Although i know now that waiting times on the NHS have been drastically reduced)

So, made a few enquires and joined BUPA.3 years ago felt a pain in my groin, went to docs, then rang BUPA, same day asked me when i would like to be seen by a specialist, i said ASAP, I saw a specialist the NEXT DAY, the specialist diagnosed Hernia op required and ASKED ME when I would like the operation, he opened his diary in front of me and 2 days later I had it done, with my own room and a three course meal chucked in. It goes up every year, but its the best £90 a month i'll ever spend.

As for income protection, I have that too, why wouldnt you?... unless your partner/wife is earning twice what you do, you'll scrape by!
