Ive looked at them in the past but they are a bit "blurgh". Uncomfortable, unsightly and expensive. I use face masks and guards as per every one else. I think in our business safety glasses like that are an expense to far. There are safety specs and googles available ou can wear over the specs.

Yes maybe too far not sure. When my glasses arrive Tuesday I will start wearing them and see how much use they are to me if that makes sense.
I don't really know how much I've been straining my eyes and got how long as I've not had them tested for at least 5 years.
Just wondered what people did really. If I find the glasses help I will look at getting some
      • I've just got a pair of safety goggles that go over my glasses for when I'm doing something that produces a lot of dirt/sparks like sharpening a blade with the anglegrinder.  Though I'm sure others will disagree....... just use my own glasses the rest of the time which I reckon is sufficient.

Ah! Now then! Beg to differ! I'm a glasses wearer and have been or years. Always thought as you BUT about two years ago complete freak accident - piece of wood nothing more than a splinter flew up and went between my glasses and face right into my eye. By god that hurt! Had to go to A and E and have it removed wore a patch for a while! Now if strimming or doing anything with "bits" generated I wear a visor or googles.

That's why I think they are worth looking at buying.
They may be expensive but I can't buy a new eye

p.s. If truely they are prescribed safety glasses then it's an allowable HMRC expense :)

Eye tests & normal glasses rarely are (unless employer funded but then a P11D issue ?) as they fail the 'wholly and exlusively' HMRC test for legit expenses.

                Thanks Gary.
Tbh though I'm not too concerned about if it's an expense or not.
Things like this are more important than worrying about cost.
  • I wear large googles over the glasses or I just wear the googles. The rest of the time I wear my glasses which are made from expensive plastic and darken in the sun as I have very sensitive eyes. They are also quite large and untrendy, to ensure the eyes are well covered.

At my age I dont care about being a fashionista.
