In 2010 I started using the term Practitioner as a reference to the operatives who work within our wonderful industry.

In fact I can't actually lay claim to the word. In a conversation with Pip Howard, Pip referred to our industry peers as being practitioners. Pip was referring to the men an women who do the job and get their hands dirty and not the management who had always, historically, received the credit for driving the landscape industry.

Pip mentioned Practitioner a few times and I stopped him and asked if he minded if LJN adopted this terminology to identify our typical member.

Pip, who is a staunch LJN man, was quick to agree it was the right thing to do.

From that day we used the word practitioner and now the term appears to be the norm.

What other terms did LJN give to the landscape industry?

Network is certainly one but what others are there?
