polishing concrete?

ive just salvaged a rather odd concrete circular table and chairs from a garden that the owner no longer wanted. it appears to be  a lightweight concrete with an attractive aggregate in it and was originally a dark grey colour. Unfortunatley it is quite weathered on the top and I was after any ideas anyone had for cleaning the surface back (a bit like t cutting paint on a car) to get the colour back up

any ideas welcome!
