Playgrade Woodchip

Hi All,

I have just had a call from a customer today where she wants a play frame put together - Its a pre-made flat-pack one.

She has recently had the garden covered in woodchip for the play frame to go on but is worried that it is not play grade woodchip that has been used. she mentioned that since the weekend it has dried out and is a bit sharp?

Could anybody enlighten me as to any difference between play grade and regular wood chip? She has said that she would rather change it now than later if need be.

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks,

Joe

  • Hi Joe,

Take a look at this link - Melcourt Play Products

We use them for all our play grade installations.

    They are always long lasting.

    All the best,

    Peter

  • Melcourt, every time.

You have to see the play bark to understand the difference. It's like individual "scales", rounded and soft, as opposed to regular conifer bark that's "torn", for want of a better word, and looks shredded.

I don't think any decent bark should be sharp, or cause any problems, but the customer will be far happier with the proper stuff.

  • Thanks to both of you for your help, I have arranged a visit so will have to see when i am there.

Seems a bit of shame (for the customer) to remove it all though as it has only been layed a few weeks!

    Thanks again
