You have to see the play bark to understand the difference. It's like individual "scales", rounded and soft, as opposed to regular conifer bark that's "torn", for want of a better word, and looks shredded.
I don't think any decent bark should be sharp, or cause any problems, but the customer will be far happier with the proper stuff.
Thanks to both of you for your help, I have arranged a visit so will have to see when i am there.
Seems a bit of shame (for the customer) to remove it all though as it has only been layed a few weeks!
