I was told four, and apparently I had them all as a kid!
Spoke to our doctor's only last week after I got my hand caught on a rusty nail, I've had five jabs. Advised that was sufficient as Richard says, but to keep eye on any increase in inflammation. Apparently it is contact with soil, that is important with a wound.
Mine was kept clean, thanks to our first aid kit and all was fine.
I used to maintain a housing site in Four Marks, near Alton, Hampshire.
Tetanus was in the soil. My dog contracted it through a wound and she died ( I had to have her put to sleep) from the complications it caused.
Luckily I'd had tetanus injections due to two accidents but it was clearly a hazard.
