Paving lifters

Hello,Can anyone tell me if the suction cup lifters work on polished sandstone slabs? I mean the ones most commonly used to lay large tiles not the battery powered ones I've seen councils using for common grey concrete slabs. Thanks in advance

  • I've never used them myself but I don't see any reason why they wouldn't work. The only situation I could imagine where it might not work would be if the stone was textured, but if the stone is sawn flat then it will work.
Out of interest why do yo you need to use one?

    Hi Stuart

Amir recently added photos of him and his colleagues lifting large sawn stone with a suction lifter. Why not contact him?

  • Hello Stuart
Thanks for giving us that order, its much appreciated :)
In all honesty the beige is only 25mm thick so it might just be easier to lay the traditional way. But if you do want to use the suction lifters then I can say with certainty that they will work on that product. If you need any more info just shout up

  • Just used one like the one in the picture to lay some Caithness stone. Most of the slabs were 80mm + thick, coped fine even with a riven surface, can't say the same for the guys laying though!
  • I have one they will pick up most stone even well worn York stone ,top tip take of seal clean any grit from inside and wash pour some water on paving to be lifted ,on riven paving keep battery well charged stand on plate once it has the suction there good to go
  • I know i'm late to the party. But yes they do, you need two glass lifters. And they are very good if you don't have good access and for cuts. But slower than just lifting straight in if that's an option.
