Set the rules, I never answer over the weekends, nor calls are answered or returned.
agree with when money is involved there is radio silence and also with quotes, they are as keen as mustard until they get the price!
How do you let people know that you don't respond over the weekend? I'd like to setup an automated "out of office" reply, I can do this with emails, but not sure with texts etc!
I maybe unusual but I usually work weekends and will balance that with starting later on some weekdays
I occasionally work Saturdays, but I'm working until 19:00 most weekdays, so I've cut down on weekend work now. I'd rather enjoy time with the family or doing my own stuff at home.
With regulars that I hold in high regard I will always reply, with the ones that are a pain they can wait until the next working day. If they badger me they get replaced. We are a kind of an emergency service.
New customers, again they can wait until the next working day, if they don't leave a message most of the time I don't bother phoning back. If they badger me the price goes up.
Everyone's entitled to a bit of peace!
We're in the same camp as Honey Badger with selective replies
Agreed about the valued customers, I'll always message them back!
Agreed
I'm thinking of doing late starts on Mondays from now on, when necessary, to do paperwork and new quotes etc. That way I can tell people "I work on quotes on Mondays only, so don't expect anything until then"! It's tricky enough working on my own, until late everyday and getting sent messages after a couple of days asking "have you done that quote for me yet? I'm keen to get the work started asap!".
Sounds as if they have unrealistic expectations assuming the work immediately follows the quote unless you have immediate capacity .
I find it best to clarify my position with regard to their urgency in the first instance it saves alot of stress which leads to burnout .
