off topic but anyone got any experience of Renault Trafic EGR valve

Bought a used trafic three months ago, its been sluggish in low reves, took it to local garage and he says computer show EGR valve as nackered £200 for the part.

Does anyone know about bypassing it, cleaning it or buying the cheaper ones of ebay?

    I had this problem with my ldv fitted with the transit engine. Follow the plastic air flow pipes that connect to the egr unit / valve. There should be a small plastic casing containing a foam air filter. Pop it open and clean the filter and try it after that. Unfotunately very few mechanics know about this filter and just fit another egr which is not the problem

    Cheers for that, ill have a look at that tomarrow and see how it goes ive read about bypassing the EGR if it does turn out to be that or cleaning it but mechanic reckons it cant be cleaned.

    I had a search online a while ago as mine was playing up when starting from cold, and a blockage in the vac pump and lines connected to the egr was a common occurance.

    I know on the mk7 transits you can buy a blank and fit it. I guess similar could be done!

    Make sure your cat isn't disintegrating and blocking up your exhaust, it has happened to me on my LDV pilot and on a couple of cars, how old is your Traffic?
