I think for next year to just try and survive the strange times in which we are living , one day at a time is my mantra ..
Assuming COVID lets me.... take more holiday
Covid owes me one holiday from this year already haha, let's hope we can all get some time iff
I would certainly like to take a holiday aboard in 2021 Covid permitting.....
As for work, maybe try and do a bit more garden design projects for my customers and new customers. It's nice to do some research on plants to keep my brain ticking over.
I am going to treat myself to some new kit such as a long handled seceteurs from Nikawki.
Andrew,
I bought Niwaki seceteurs a couple of months back when they arrived they were so small compared to my Felco 9
On Instagram I said they would be going back due to being small, the founder of Niwaki commented use them and if you don't get on with them I could still send them back.
I used them for two days, they were much to small for my normal sized hand, the catch kept getting in thecway, and when you wanted the clip on you had to use the other hand.
needless to say they went back..
Clive,
That's interesting as I have used Felco for years but I do like my Nikwaki yellow handled seceteurs (can't recall the model name). I do a lot of pruning and dead heading in the course of my work and I am a convert to these seceteurs. It take a lot to shift my loyalty but hands down Nikwaki works for me more than Felco. In fact I have just ordered the long handled seceteurs/ pruners from Nikwaki.
Andrew,
the Niwaki were GR Pro left handed yellow handles.
After sending them back I was in a local garden Center and I picked up some Darlac tools LH secateurs I was quite impressed with them and wrote a short review on Instagram. Darlac tools read it and offered to send me some free tools of my choice as a thank you. So I chose a few items and they arrived next day. Even though a value for money brand I have been impressed with all the tools.
My hunt for a really nice pair of left handed secateurs still goes on though...
I will check them out.
I am right handed so I don't have issues using them but I know a few left handed gardeners who are always looking to get the right (no pun intended!) tools to be able to be comfortable using them.
For us in 20201, we're planning to move the business to more of a focus on planting and border design at the expense of maintenance. We've already weeded out the ones we don't enjoy.
Having tested positive for Covid on Boxing Day, and fingers crossed, being let off lightly, I think I will speed up plans to cut back on days worked ( retirement) and spend more time with family.
It has always been my intention to keep working as long as I am fit enough, and that still remains, but perhaps it's time to tip the balance more towards the fun side of life.
