New van opinions please

I'm just about to change the run around. It's a Vauxhall combo 2008 and has done us proud. However it's due a cam belt change done 100,000 miles and is now a little tatty.I'm looking at the Vauxhall combo (new shape) or the fiat doblo. Both the same really. I'll go for the L2H1 variation to get extra back length.Does anyone run one of these? What do they think? What is a good alternative if not?All comments welcome please.I thank you:)

Hi Andy, can't comment on the Combo or Doblo, but we do have a lwb transit connect as our small run-around and are very happy with it. Very comfortable and practical in lwb format - well worth a look. When looking at the connect, I did drive a berlingo and found it to be really noisy and old school in comparison, but, it was a fair bit cheaper as well, but not enough!

    Hi Andy

Did you get either of these two vehicles in the end? I am looking at the same vans once I've sold my pick-up. Seems like the Doblo Cargo Maxi 2.0 is the one to go for but they are quite pricey new and there doesn't seem to be too many low mileage used ones around at the moment which is what I'd try and get.

    Cheers

    Steven

Hi, i've had a rethink. The build quality of these two is, in my opinion, not great. I've been reliably informed by a couple of mechanics that these new vans, although sound, do cause issues when reaching 70k or more in miles. So I'm opting for a VW caddy maxi. More expensive but better build and an expected milage around the 125k. Just neec to save a few more pennies!
  • I am thinking of buying the new Citroen Dispatch van as these are very reasonable to run and got good reviews.

We've got a Relay, had from new on a 64 plate. Nice van, but has gone wrong more than our other vans and when in the dealer has have really poor backup from dealer and Citroen in terms of loan vehicles, time for parts to arrive, fix vs replace. Had an example of a simple clip going on a coolant pipe, but it was integrated to the pipe, and so whole need replacing. Van was off road for 3 weeks, and they only "contributed" to a replacement hire van (smaller). Left me out of pocket by a few hundred pounds. Was left dunfounded by the arrogance of Citroen UK on the matter.

So yes the vans are nice, but they are a PITA when they go wrong. Had small problems with Ford and Vauxhall handled completely differently to our, the customers, satisfaction.
