I got the HLA56 with the extension shaft a couple of years ago. It has been and is fantastic.
good to hear, Adam, i've not tried that one but am on my 3rd HLA65 at the moment and still have my first HLA85 (Telescopic bigger one). Apparently the new model will be available from this May and is heavier duty. Looks like the motor is in the battery end of this one rather than at the cutting end. Probably won't be much change from £500 body only but hopefully be worth it
The whole new 135 range is all looking good. Got kma 135r on order for spring to replace my old petrol km130r's.
Forked out on hsa85, hla65 and hla85 last year. Won't be replacing them anytime soon.
Not a fan of those full metal hedge cutting heads, there only good for three/four years before they die.
How long do the hla65's last?
First HLA65 i had ran it a few years then sold it still in good nick for top dollar. Second one I had to drop it to save myself falling off a ladder and it did something to it. So I bought another. Then found second hand parts cheaply to fix the busted one. Was quite a job taking it to bits and it's still not quite 100% but pretty good. So I have 2 of them now lol. This new model looks a beast though. Like a long reach version of the HSA94 I would imagine
Those metal hedge cutter heads, after a few years the bearing's just smash regardless of regular greaseing, at £300 a pop, i'd rather buy a brand new hla65 every three years.
My sthil dealer said it's the same motor in the 135 as the kma130, so I would imagine they would be pretty aggressive.
I bought the KMA 130 last year and is nowhere near as powerful as the petrol version to the point I bought a new petrol engine unit 2 weeks ago.
The motor is less powerful and the lead from the batery harness to the machine is a pain / dangerous when working at hight on ladders
yes using a cabled tool at a height is an absolute non starter for me also
What's the kma 130 like as a strimmer?
My Stihl dealer tried to up sale it to me, but with the cable, for me I see no practical use for it other than a strimmer.
Have had an HLA85 for the last 2 years and love it, will probably buy another this year..
