New chainsaw - reccomendations

Im in the market for a new saw. I currently own a husqvarna 240e which replaced both an old Alpina and Partner saws I was then borrowing. The 240e one of the lowest range saws they do designed for homeowners. It was offered to me a couple months back by a friend who was no longer using it.It is a 2008 model and is in very good condition, very light, good power, reliable engine and is strong even for such a cheap model. The problems arise where it needs to be cold started after it has been sitting for 5 - 10 minutes, which I isnt so much a problem actually, just annoying. The saw also has a tendency to need the oil lines need clearing after every couples hours use, again not a problem if kept on top of but is annoying when the saw is in such regulaur use.So I am looking for a saw that is slightly more powerful though not by much, and is designed for more regulaur use. My saw work usually consist of taking limbs off at ground level, general clearing and the odd small fell as I only currently hold CS30/31.

  • sounds like the rings are worn on the old one
  • How about a Stihl ms211? Like the Husqy 240e it's only really for homeowners but it's a quality brand.
  • stihl every day for me ive got a ms 181 similar to ms 211 both homeowner saws but cant fault them for logging and pruning work nice and light
  • we have a stihl ms 250 which is great little saw and a ms 362 which is a very good saw for most work
  • I have a 260 and so far it's just got on with the job, has been logging and felling for full days for a few years plus anything else that I need to do seems a strong little saw. I'd buy another.
  • I use a ms260 could not fault it. It does everything I ask of it.
  • Take it into Honey Bros for a service. Sounds like its overdue. Huskys are one of the best makes but need some TLC at times
  • ms280cbqi suits me
