Hey guys,

Im looking to purchase a new multi-tool soon, however am looking at other brands other than husky and stihl as even though it is undoubtedly great gear, I often feel you may also be paying for the name, and it's not cheap stuff. I understand you usually get what you pay for, but i've been looking at some other brands such as Cobra, Hyundai & Honda and wanted other peoples thoughts that may have used them.

Cheers,
Oli

Echo is the other brand of multi tool that i've used and it was great, like my stihls but a bit less weight balanced and i thought the vibes were higher but the book says they're lower. Couldn't ever really switch manufactures now though as it's a lot of money to pay out to replace the lot.

  • Do a search, this has come up many times.

Buy what your local repairer sells, not what you find on the internet. Weeks waiting for parts is money down the drain. You want to be front of the queue when it breaks, so buy from him.

Be very careful buying second hand. Ask yourself why any pro would sell good gear for half it's value, unless it's either knackered, or stolen?

Hi I had this quandary earlier this year and ended up with an efco multimate. Seems to be good though not had it long. Only got the long reach hedge trimmer as yet. But it seems to be very good. Low vibes engine set on springs.£200 for motor £125 for cutter(I think). Pleased with it so far.
My dad has a farm and has used efco long reach(solo) for about ten years with no problems. Also has solo short reach (single sided) for 3 seasons again very pleased.
Seem well built enough but only time will tell I guess. Hope that helps a bit.
