Can I ask why are you not replacing with new Husqvarna mulchers? Have you not been happy with them or do you just fancy trying something new?
hi yes a good point
we run mainly husqvarna kit a mainly battery but still some petrol including 5 husqverna mowers 1x 19 inch mulcher and 2x 21inch mulchers
they have a lot of short commings
the wheels lost the tread in about 2 months , they got a retread with the angle grinder
the drive system still needs a good push on sloopes hard work after a full days mowing
and the mulching is a bit disapointing
but all that said they have done a awfull lot of mowing in the last two years
We used to use the Husqvarna mulchers, swapped to Honda HRX 537 outperforms the Husqvarna on every level. We run 3 commercially and they have stood up to all the abuse we have thrown at them with no failures over the last 3 years. Cannot fault them. Hope that helps.
Hi Peter
i think with out doubt the build quality of the Husqvarners is not as good as honda, we are running two Kabota Kass mowers and they are bulletproof as well still struggle in wet grass mind
but there is still a need for a good strong mulching mower especialy on a lot of our commercil contracts
the Grin mowers are quite expensive for what they are , around £1800 compared to Etesia bio-cut at around £1500
As you say the build quality is not there. The issues we had were - tyres coming off wheels, drive engagement cables regularly breaking, drive cogs losing teeth and having to push on slopes due to the front wheel drive. The Hondas are rear wheel drive. Are the Grin and Etesia front or rear wheel drive? The mulching performance of the Honda is much better even in challenging conditions and they have the advantage of being used as collectors with a simple flick of a lever and the collection is excellent plus variable speed hydrostatic drive and BBC, prices are around £1100 plus vat. We prefer the HY model with a lever to set speed rather than the VY which has a squeezy type speed control
Thank you Peter
We chose the Husqvarna as we have a very good dealer
But the mowers are hard work and too be frank not as good as some cheap throw away mowers
I do like the look of the Grin but i think there massivel over priced compared too the likes of honda & Etesia and if you look at even the weibang mulching mower it comes with the same Kawasaki engine for around £625 + vat
I see that Honda do a dedicated mulching mower, the HRS536VK. No experience with it though and, at only £600, it's maybe not up to the standard you need.
Very good point
They come out at £500 + each even if they only do two years and you £100 back at the end trade
£200 a year would you get 7.5 years out of a Grin = £1500
I suspect the Grin would only do 4 years at best
We run a small fleet of Etesia Pro46's and have an Etesia Pro53 and they are all excellent mulchers, but will also collect when required.
I must admit im warming to the idea of the Etesia
Thank for your input Nick greatly appreciated
