Mower problem

We run several Masport 22" Rotarolas.

I do 99% of the repairs and maintenance to these machines But there's an issue on one machine I can't resolve.

When started from cold the clutch/drive lever is applied and the machine pulls away strongly but only for about the first 30 seconds. Thereafter all drive is lost  and the mower can only be manually pushed. The engine remains at full revs so I doubt that's the cause.

If left to cool for say 20 minutes exactely the same happens - self propelled fine to start then drive slows down and ceases.

Any ideas of the cause ?

  • i am not familiar with this machine if the drive is belt driven it could be the belt is worn or slack as it will soon heat up and expand. or the gearbox could be the problem do not know if it is serviceable or a new unit has to be bought. also have a look at the drive cog on the roller is OK and the cog on the drive shaft (the cotter or role pin has not broken)
