Yes have used mobactor David with good results I found it was a good solution for customers who did not like lawn disturbance .

Gave the desired results ( more grass than moss ) but the moss will return the following season unless you have taken advantage of the decomposed moss , raked it out and reseeded in the Autumn otherwise it's back to square one .

Good on lawns with limited access I found .

My own lawn is really moss infested this year and decided to take advantage of the April showers so applied lawn sand which will work quicker than the mobactor on the amount of moss present .

  • Expensive and doesn't work well !  We use liquid iron  once late winter and again around 4 to 6 weeks later, moss gone. These are very large areas so scarifying not an option, find with 2 applications close together and weekly mowing with collection it disappears,  treat again in Autumn.

Yes mobactor works slowly , Have found it's perfect in some situations where less lawn work frequency is required and in some environments where a more bio friendly approach is appreciated .

I don't know if it would be a cost effective solution in a more commercial setting on large lawns

I have found it to be an effective solution and another tool in the box but not necessarily the default solution .

Would be interested to see the results of persevering with it over several seasons I love its simplicity of application .

We've used, and in the main get good results, but key is using only once things have warmed up encouraging the bacteria to mulitply, but still enough rain. So mid April typically. In fact, I'm about to put down on my own lawn which is a good size. It's expensive at £300 for materials only compared to normal fert (approx 5x cost), but I'm hoping a couple of springs using this will remove enough thatch and moss to get the lawn healthy without the need for a scarify, which would need a serious amount of time and effort. I'll report back in Autumn on progress.

If using on customers lawn, you do need to set expectations on timing of results (slow) and risk (high). Not good for customers wanting a quick solution - we steer them to full renovation. Patience needed.

  • I use it and find it to be effective if the weather conditions are favourable - when the temperature drops below 5c then expect the moss-eating bacteria to stop working! If moss severe, I would recommend mechanical removal (scarification) followed by Mo-bacter to finish the moss off and feed the grass.

    • My own lawn is less and less grass every year. I would rather crawl over broken glass than scarifie it as it would be bald and my dog would even make a bigger mess than he does now. Any tips please. Its about 120m long by 20 m wide . The soil is ok

I have a commercial gardening business but have very little to do with lawns

Any tips on seed and lawn feed

Strange how we strive to meet and exceed  our clients expectations but have to be nagged by the wife to sort my own garden out !! Comments welcome 🙏

      Cheers all
