i suggest no reason why it should be different than to normal mortar 3-2-1 ?
ive seen some and my sister just had an original sands-stone wall rebuilt by an experienced 50yr old builder and it looked like normal 'creamy' mix to me......................posssibly you could put a bit more sand in to couler it more reddishy ? but it has to be strong so it doesnt crack / crumble ??
what about lime ? another builder thats worked for me (best in this area) uses it in his mix as it dries slower and therfore makes it 'stronger' once set. ive seen it on a tv building show also.
good luck - just ask a few people you know or phone any builder to confirm??!
