Just used this service for the first time, for a customer who despite all their promises wouldnt pay me for some work done. Every time i spoke to them they promised to send a cheque and would never reply to follow up emails etc. I used the Money claim on line service for the first time, which is the small claims courts centralised system, designed to make it easier for people to sort matters out, before the next step of the small claims court.
I have to say it was extremly easy to do. Cost me £25, but i was able to add that to the cost of the claim, along with the intrest for the amount owed. Got a court letter through at the beginning of last week, telling me the paperwork had been served and low and behold the cheque turned up today for the full amount. I very much doubt i would have got it if i hadnt used the service.
I really ummed and ahhed before using it, but certainly wouldnt be slow to use it again if necessary. Just thought it might be something worth considering as it is quite a frequent recurring topic on here, about not being paid.
