I use wet and forget. Good stuff.
I don't think there is a problem with using it in winter, as long as its not frozen solid, it doesn't rely on the plant actively growing to kill it like say glyphosate.
If you read the label I'm sure it's pretty toxic to aquatic life.
Re grass it will scorch it but I've never actually killed any grass from the odd bit of spray drift.
Thanks for the replies.. I think I may have made it too weak previously (can't remember the ratios I used, but I was trying to work out exact quantities per square metre so I can charge my customers accordingly). I know I never put "too much in" so would have been on the weaker side when diluting. Will re-visit and re-test!
I've found it's far more effective if the surface is damp/pre wetted if that helps.
I used to use mmc Pro, but now use mac hi power from progreen. Essentially the same product but far more concentrated.

Have I miss read this.... 5L for £94.50.... seems very expensive BAC50 has 50% active ingredient compared to 40% on the MAC Hi Power and it's the same active ingredient . I recently purchased 4 x 5L for under £100 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Benzalkonium-Chloride-BAC50-Algaecide-Ba... that's including postage as well
Its cheap because its not approved...
MAC Hi-Power holds a HSE approval under the old COPR legislation and the active ingredient DDAC is under Review for the new The GB List of Biocidal Active Substances..... BAC 50 has not been approved.
Chemicals now must be approved on this list in order that they can be included on the GB BPR - the new list of approved Biocides. If a business is using a product not approved for that use and something goes wrong......
I understand your points but it works and it's listed and sold as an Algaecide Bactericide and Fungicide Sometimes, there's too much "red-tape" about...... you're using the same chemical.... just different label..... I can see no logical reason not to use it. Basically, you're paying roughly 4 x the price for the same stuff because its got MAC-Hi-Power on the label. You're paying roughly 6 x the price to have MMC-Pro on the label. If you've got money to throw away, fair enough......... I shouldn't tempt fate but if you know what you're doing, things really shouldn't go wrong:) Wasn't there something a while back about MMC-pro not being approved as a mosskiller anymore..... it was still used for that purpose....perhaps thats changed now? Isn't bleach/sodium hypochlorite often mentioned on here for the treatment of moss? Is that "approved"?
