MILLBOAD DECKING OR OTHER OPTIONS COSTINGS

Hello everyone, I just wondered if any one could help me with some decking costings, I am putting together a 15K budget garden, and I need to cost a deck, to be built off current level then finishing at about 1.10M Ht off ground (bridges lower terrace) and it will need planning. Size approx. 4.5M by 3.20M. Its fairly coastal, so I am considering Millboard or an alternative composite deck. Can any one help ref costings, also suggest any affordable good looking alternatives? As I can see my budget racing away!

Grateful for any advice

Regards Sam

  • Hi Sam,

I've just completed 16sq/m of deck using Millboard Enhanced Grain. It is an excellent product and worth the cost. The boards and screws worked out to £1750 (you need there screws so that they hide in the surface). You also need to allow for joists every 400mm as the boards have a lot of flex.

As far as alternatives go, there isn't really a composite that I've come across that compares to the look of Millboard. It's worth the extra money and will last a very long time without the need for much maintenance.

    Hope this helps,

    Ed
