Could anyone please let me know the pros and cons: is it all good?

This is probably a question for hard landscapers rather than maintenance people, or maybe not, any help would be good.

    Hi Phil

I have used Marshall's paving products since 1979/80 up to 2011 because i believe they are the best manufacturers in the UK today in terms of the product being the best, the level of service you receive and most of all the back up and support from the staff who are part of the Marshall's Register, the girls on the phones who take your direct to site orders and the drivers who transport the products all always very helpful.

I have seen lots of changes and improvements to the register in the last couple of years and Marshall's are promoting the register both nationally and local too and always adding additional features what are beneficial for the installers plus the plans for this year have been very positive and encouraging for me as a contractor on the Marshall's register of approved landscapers and contractors and I am looking forward to next year when I know things will get even better.

The advantages of being on the Marshall's Register of Approved Landscape Contractors and Driveway Installers

1..Peace of mind for clients with 10 year guarantee
2..The usage of any photo and the Marshall's logo you can download and use on your website or for any sales literature or printing
3..Training courses for the installation of permeable paving, how to use the driveway visualiser and a sales training course (all FREE)
    4..Cash back on all products
5..Regional assessors at hand to contact for advice and help if required
6..Installer development manager to assist you with your business
7..They are marketing heavily towards register members in 2011 and hopefully the same next year too
8..The Marshall's awards, your installations can win regional certificates leading to the "Contractor of the year Award"
9..Your contact details on the back page of the Marshall's brochure making the Marshall's brochure personalised to you business
10..Improvements to our register profiles showing icons for different skills
11..Better delivery times on direct to site orders have been implemented this year, they was good before but they have made improvements
12..Member Site assessments, your regional assessor inspects your work on a regular basis
    13..Technical support
14..FREE samples, we can receive free samples to show the customer exactly what the colours of the paving will look like on their property

As far as I know there is nothing else available within the paving industry in the UK what offers this level of support and most importantly Marshall's supply the most premium of products on the market today, when you speak to any of the Marshall's staff they are always up beat full of energy and enthusiastic and being a register member makes me part of that winning team

You get all of this and more for only £300 +vat per year, in my opinion you cant afford not to be in it.

The new Marshall's brochure with register members contact details, it would cost a lot more than £300 to have the 4 boxes of brochures printed what i received

plus it has been discussed many times on the forum already

Being on the Marshall's register of approved contractors can lead to winning reginal and national awards too

    Hope this helps

    Cheers

  • thanks for that mick, seems well worth contacting helen whitelock tomorrow morning then, thanks again

  • I agree with Mick & Gary and if you want to improve your business and profile amongst your competitors i recommend you join the register. Just an addition to Garys comments i received 8-10 leads from Marshalls this year which resulted in me gaining 4 additional jobs which was great but i do live in a separate region to Gary and things vary from one region to another.

Marshall's register members also receive excellent customer service

A couple of years ago Justin Handby the Marshall's register north west installer development manager went out of his way to deliver 2 Tegula corner kerbs to site so the work could continue

A lot of the products we use are non stock items from a builders merchants and are ordered special so when you receive this level of support by Marshall's register staff you have to give them top marks for the first class service they provide for us

Ah right so you got all the leads this year then Jason :)

  • Hell fire Jason you did very well getting 8 to 10 leads. ive had no where near that i will have to have words lol

  • After a long chat with Mick at creating Landscapes I'm in the process of applying for membership of this scheme. It looks like a no-brainer to me as long as you take action with it and use it to its full potential. If you sit back and expect work to land on the doorstep I suspect you'll be disappointed.

  • I have been involved in the block paving industry since it began and in business well before it began. I carried out the installation of paving at Laporte Centre Grangemouth 20 years ago this year and it looks as good today as it was then. We used Marshall's product and Ibstock.I was asked to join then and didn't because we did not get much back up back then.  I certainly feel the company has come a long way since then. However my problem is that because i have not entirely used their products they are reluctant to add us to the register. We were actually the only Scottish company registered as members of Interlay at the time.No mean achievement as they are very strict in their rules. We left as there was no other Scottish companies listed. I will probably find it even more difficult now as my son has just taken over the business and has changed it's name.We can supply references indeed Rated People have done it for us. My son will apply to join and I shall inform you of progress.Pictures of shopping centre 20 years on. Is there anyone out there from Marshall's who can help. Tom Smith on Colin's behalf.
