Manual Pole Pruner

Following on from the discussion on Stihl pole pruners, I currently use a manual one, but it is old and very heavy so looking to replace. I don't have a combi, and can't justify the expense of a dedicated power saw, so I'm looking at manual again. Silky is the obvious choice, but which? They do 4 different ones. Does anyone have a recommendation (or a cheaper equivalent).

its not cheaper but along the lines of the stihl combi stuff is our pellenc range of battery powerd tools, once you have the battery (700) you get a full days work off the charge and can use any of the pellenc toos on it (except the lixion pruners only the treelion pruners with an adapter on it) we do a top handle chain saw pole saws going from 1.3m up to 3m telescopic / hedge trimmers both hand and telescopic & strimmer pluss there working on other attachments as i am writeing this, as noise and polution go its almost nothing theres no fumes as its battery power and that also means less or no fule to carry in the van
  • Well there's certainly cheaper alternatives available but they might not fit the bill due to the "lopper" which adds a bit of weight, see the following links.....

We use these from Corona. Not Silky or Carbon fibre, but glass fiber pole a good cost compromise with a replacable blade. Teflon coated loper as well.

Although this is a link to the US website, we got ours from Richmonds in Haselmere, Surrey ~100+vat

  • Thanks for the replies - just found the Silky Saws discussion from February last year which more than covers this topic, so sorted (well worth a look if you are buying hand saws now)
