I have tried to stop doing some of the heavier work that our job entails such as fencing, barrowing lots of materials or days doing digging. This has helped my back no end. Also invested in Pellenc battery powered tools which are much lighter, quieter and have zero emissions at point of use. I feel much better for it.
i use lackeys where i can to at least halve the load or do the unskilled shoveling, lugging the paving through, barrowing & digging - one thing i notice is that my helpers are slower than i am - maybe that's where i'm going wrong - there is a difference between being productive intelligently and beating yourself up to get higher productivity.
so my solution is mostly mitigation
