Never, never use unofficial websites ( they are making huge money at your expense thanks to google adwords placing their ranking above legit websites ) to obtain government licenses, passports etc.
Use the .gov.uk website and lower tier is free, upper tier used to be £150 per 3 year’s but has gone up. Our license renews this year.
If it’s purely green waste, lower tier normally suffices.
Garden waste = green waste = lower tier = free
Other materials a gardener may handle eg old fencing panels, concrete posts, old patio stones etc = upper tier = paid for.

A person or organisation will be lower tier if they:

May have just saved yourself a lot of money :)
Thank you so much.
I did find the .gov.uk website and relevant pages eventually, but it's great to have what I suspected confirmed by others with more experience. I appreciate it.
Used to see this sort of thing for registering for Data Protection. Companies would sell a scare story and small businesses would fork out the £30 regstration fee and up to £100 on top that they didn't need to shell out for.
On the subject of green waste, we've just found a green waste composting centre that charges us a maximum of £30 for a transit sized van of green and woody waste. How does that compare to others? We went last week for the first time (Vivaro crew cab with LWB) and got charged £15 plus VAT for 4/5 builders bags and some woody waste - felt like a good price. We plan to offer this service to customers perhaps charging £10-£15 for a builders bag. Not sure what others do.
Currently charging £5 per builders bag, I wait until I have a van load - LWB and tip for £40, normally about 450kg to 500kg on the weighbridge.
It's not so much the charges but the hassle factor time involved in tipping that are getting a bit out hand.
Tried getting someone with a trailer to pick it up and tip for me, not reliable enough.
I came across an Eliet Super Prof 2000 shredder locally, bought it and it has transformed my waste handling. Just about anything is shredded on site now, brings it down to circa 20% of its original volume, much easier to move. Problem I have now is storage after a few days it is covered in spores and I don't really want to handle it - sure there is a solution just haven't worked it out yet.
