  • hi unless there's some high end models out there I'm not aware of, most battery lawnmowers with roller seem to be a maximum of about 46cm cutting width. Great idea to use a cordless one for the college so the learning is not disrupted. Also when choosing one be sure that the lowest height setting is short enough as some models only go down to about 3cm

  • Not got one, petrol for us but Hayter do a harrier 48 60 v if you're looking for rotary which seems the biggest cut available for cordless rotary. List price is over £1600 . How good they are, run time etc no idea. There's  a  video on YouTube by gregs mowing with a side by side test of an ego and the Hayter the Hayter seems to come out on top albeit it's twice the price of the ego which to be fair is a machine aimed at the domestic market.  One thing I did notice was the noise, not exactly silent! Be interested in the DB level of battery Hayter compared to the petrol version.  We have a Hayter 48 vs bbc petrol and it's very quiet,  difficult to tell from the video but would suggest in real world conditions the noise level is comparable if this is the reason you're after cordless? Plenty of info on Hayter website.

  • Ego Power do a 52cm self propelled battery mower -  LM2135E-SP. They also have a 52cm roller accessory,

Not tried it, and stripes won't be as good as a proper roller mower, but maybe worth a look.

  • Of course there is also the Allett battery cordless cylinder mower range- if you have seriously deep pockets..
