Looking for a better spool head

Hi. Looking for a better spool head for my Parker multi tool. I ordered a second head from Parker a while back and it was useless. Anyone know which make I could use instead. I looked at a selection at a shop but couldn't tell any dimensions. Anyone know of spindle diameter or thread type? I'm not buying another one from Parker. Many thanks

  • The best strimmer heads I have ever used are the ones from Bessertrim. Now, the Honda ones are excellent, but they don’t last nearly as long as the Bessertrim ones. Both of these heads are very slick in operation and very easy to re-line.

The Stihl ones are fine, but not nearly as good as the Bessertrim or Honda ones.

With the Honda ones you can buy just the spool [same as Stihl], as it is the spool that will wear out long before the rest of the head.

But, here’s the thing. I would get through two to three Honda spools per season, whereas one Bessertrim head [complete] I had lasted nearly four years, with trouble free operation.

Both come in either 10mm or 12mm, but you need to check the thread type/size also.

I am talking here about bump feed heads.

I like the echo speed feed heads. Very strong very quick to reload and rather than having an eyelet as the edge of the head there is an element of flex of the line going into the head so should reduce snapping (although it's been years since I used any other style of head I can't remember if it's that much of an issue).

  • Thanks lads for taking the time to reply. I have my doubts about the spool heads in the link, as they look identical to the Parker ones. Just different colour. I have opted for a different approach to the spool. The aluminium gadget that takes 4 short sections of cord. Looking like a star fish arrangement. Will report back after I try it

    • The Bessertrim heads are absolutely and most definitely not Parker brand heads. They are the very best professional heads I have ever used. If you look closely they are clearly not the same at all.

As I said the previous one I had did four years. They are the easiest to re-line and the best operating heads I have ever used in 35 years. But hey, you don’t have to buy one.

But they are NOT Parker brand heads.

      • Hi Vic. Ok, I believe you. I will purchase said spool in the future. Bear with me as I trial the other gadget that I have ordered. Thanks for your imput. Good advice and support appreciated
