Fiskars UP86 4m pole pruner. Got 3 of them, lightweight yet a good pruning cut with a moveable head to change angle. They do a smaller pruner, model number UP53.
Above suggestions are good. I'll just throw Corona into the mix. I use their secateurs and their long pole pruner which is ridiculously long. Good kit, cheaper than Felco and for what its worth I swopped from Felco to Corona and wouldn't go back.
I have some others now can't remember the name but they were £100+ very good will look when I'm back home but they extend to reach about 7M plus your own height. They are very good. But for light use not very often try the b and q
I have a Wolfe set and they are really good. I have a pole that extends to 5m (I think, off the top of my head) and a lopper head and pruning saw that are interchangeable.
Jup, I have the Wolf extension pole as well. Great stuff. Can attach the lopper, the saw, or use the net when dealing with a large pond or swimmingpool, or pick fruits with the fruit picker tool.
I saw a tree chap using a pole pruner the other day, but instead of the usual pull string type arrangement, it had a handle/lever on the pole - looked far quicker and less cumbersome string ones that I always end up getting tangled up. Anyone know what make that would have been ?
I took Andys advice and bought these Fiskars UP86 4m pole pruner which I think are what Russ has seen as well. You pull the outer part of the handle down over the inner to create the cutting action. Loads of reach, really light to use and the angle of the cut is adjustable. I have used these on two jobs so far ( unfortunately both where I work on hourly rates ) and they save so much time.
I would definitely recommend these. I bought mine from Machine Mart who where by far the cheapest at £90 plus £10 delivery.
They look very impressive........You'll find there are quite a lot of even cheaper offers with a Google search... £75+£3 postage http://www.powertoolsdirect.com/fiskars-telescopic-bypass-tree-prun... Just shows the profit some places make from selling stuff!:)
