Long grass cutting, Allen scythe?

Hi all,I cut any long grass in orchards etc with a strimmer before mowing. I obviously charge for the labour so I'm in no hurry to shell out a substantial amount for a flail or finger bar mower. Having said that a machine to deal with long grass would be useful and of late I've gone all nostalgic and started renovating older mowers and the like which has brought me to the attention of an Allen scythe.Does anyone have any experience of these? Are they ok with wet long grass? Can they cope with 'terrain'? I'm aware they weigh more than York Minster and that old engines can be temperamental. It's their performance once running I'm unsure of.Failing that does anyone have another suggestions that wouldn't cost more than £300 maximum?Oh and if anyone would like a Greens Zephyr 20" cyclinder mower in superb condition please let me know.Cheers Neil
