Would LJN members be prepared to update their profiles with at least the Region they operate/live in ?

On several occasions recently I looked up Member's profiles when requests for help/advice/suppliers have been made and some times it's difficult to recognise their location.

Ok, I could trace their Area Code or look at their website, but having the Region specified so when someone clicks on you would be so helpful (and should present no security risk as has been the case with comments about the 'Members Map - even then you can still just set your location to a 'town')

    Seems sensible to me.

    Like you Gary, I try to see where someone is based before replying just to make sure what i have to say is relevant  to there request.

    My Page / Settings / Profile - then complete fields on show with as much detail as you wish

    I agree with Gary that this should be done.

    There is one slight complication in that members' addresses are currently set to private based on feedback from some members who don't wish for their details to be public.

    Phil, is it not possible to just complete the State/County & Country in PROFILE, rather than disclose or complete physical address ?

    I have mine set to Surrey/Hampshire etc, but my address remain private...

    I totally agree with this and hve mentioned it before, - very annoying, to not be able to find out where members live in the country when they are asking for information, and personally can't understand why anyone would want to be on a social networking site for business and not let people know at least what county they operate in.

    i've added Surrey based into the about me section of My page

    I dont mind people knowing Im Leeds based - I just dont want my Address blasted out on a public website as that would just tell pikeys where some good tools are.

    That's why the adress section of your details is marked as 'Private' - look for the padlock.

    What you put in the profile section above that can be a vague or as specific as you wish..

    As far as I'm aware I don't have a privacy setting on so my profile should be public but when I click on it myself it doesn't show me any details.

    Can anyone tell me if my location is showing?
