Life in Piddletrenthide (yes there is)

So June 28th we moved, seems like about 6 months, not 6 weeks so much has happened.A few things happening in the background, which are all very good, but I cannot discuss just yet.The arrival of our two Boxers three weeks ago has been great. We had a Boxer up until this March and sadly lost him aged only 7. The two new additions are not replacements, they are special in their on right. However, I do feel a bit strange going around the Nursery shouting "Jasmine" as some might think that I am calling my plants??? Well perhaps I do talk to them, but that will remain our secret, but I will, for my own sanity shorten her name to Jas and not grow any Jasminum.Strange thing about hilly West Dorset is that there are no areoplanes flying overhead. Having lived in Surrey for the last 47 years in between Heathrow and Gatwick flightpaths, there has always been planes overhead. Where West Dorset differs is planes and helicopters are at eye-level, or even below us as we are so hilly. There appears to be some military base nearby, either that or we have been invaded recently and nobody has told Dorset. So two or three times a day this Helicopter or plane fly around 100 metres over our Nursery, or a couple of weeks ago I saw a helicopter below me in the valley, it felt it bit weird to be looking down on it, waving to the pilot.BT, who we now refer to as Bugger Them have been incompetent beyond even my belief, just goes to show what happens when you privatise a monopoly! We had hoped to vote on their what happens next poll, and were going to suggest that the "couple" moved in together, could not get a telephone line for 10 working day, could not transfer their broadband for 21 days, and charged them for equipment that they did not order, plus £4.99 for delivery, for that is what happens with BT when you move house. Sadly "real life" was not an option to vote for. Oh dear, and I do like voting. If BT want our Business line, they can forget it.Plants, oh yes, the important bit, yes we will have some, ready next Spring, 5-30 litre Shrubs, Herbaceous, Grasses, Bamboos and Climbers. Well just one climber Trachelospermum jasminiodes, no it's not a Jasmine, it's a Trachelospermum!

Steve, I would change to optimum Calls, I use Optimum for both my business line and my private line and find them great. (changed from BT!!)

I have had technical problems and they were brilliant sorting these, you speak to English people and they actually phone back when they are supposed to and liaise with open reach for the maintance..... my line fault was reported at 2pm and the open reach engineer arrived 11 am next morning and optimum gave me a courtesy call at 12.30 to check it was sorted.
  • "Talking to English people on the phone", I really get into Victor Meldrew mode about telephoning companies, I think a lot of firms forget the point of telephones. I believe that if you phone a company it means you want to talk to someone, not a computer, not a robot and not to someone whos' first language is not English.

  • Cheers Phil,

I don't mind if I am chatting to someone in India, it widens my languages spoken. If India is the chosen state for the free-market economy, who am I to question it? Most of the Banks, multi-national companies use cheap Indian labour, so that we in the "free West" reduce our bills, yer right.

To clarify, T&S Plants have no plans, to use cheap labour call centres in India.

Although bear in mind, this is the same free-market system that you and I bailed out not so long ago. Of course the free-market works???!!! We bailed them out in the '30's we bailed them again out in the '00's, history has a habit of always repeating itself, and you and I pay for it?

Forget Victor Mildrew, I am Mr Angry as I hate crap service, and I am on the point of taking legal action against BT.

    Steve
