I designed my own in photoshop. Need to use software that has cmyk colours because if you it in RGB it'll come out different when its printed because the printer uses cmyk.
which version of photoshop do you use seth
If you don't want to buy/acquire Photoshop, there's the free alternative gimp which has most of the same functionality.
yeh already have gimp not really used it as yet ... may look at a photoshop version though
I use CS5. I dont use gimp because i could never get the cmyk mode to work properly.
I use Scribus. There is a 'Doze version, Mac too but I haven't used either.
Doing it yourself has an advantage. You have it electronically and most DTP software these days will allow you to save a .pdf copy so you can email as attachments to new enquirers where relevant, or to your printer out of hours. Printers can use artwork in .pdf format in densities from 150 upwards, some require 300.
Guys, you really need desktop publishing (DTP) software for this type of work. The GIMP, to give it its proper title, is image manipulation software and not designed for the job. It is a great programme but no programme can do everything! GIMP actually stands for Gnu Image Manipulation Programme, which says it all.
You can always go to fiverr.com and get someone to design your leaflet, for £5 or £10 you get it in electronic format and you can then just print them out.
thanks john how does it work do u sign up for it
Hi Phil,
Less is often more with adverts - don't be afraid of white spaces! (well not white necessarily, but background colour - you don't want it too cluttered with words and images or it will detract from the main message and make it difficult for the reader to find what they want).
We design our own leaflets. Often worth adding some kind of code (perhaps "quote XXXX for 5% off" or something similar) as then you can track the effectiveness of the leaflet drop. This also works if you want to try out different designs - make two flyers with different codes and see which one get more responses. Also check what big companies are doing as they will have tried and tested styles.
Also, Vistaprint is great for leaflets. Cheap, simple and good quality - 500 A5 leaflets is £26!
