Laying new turf

Evening all, hope all are well, could anyone help me with this one... A customer has asked if I can lay some new turf over an area where some stones have been removed, it's going to have 4 inches of topsoil over the soil which had stone on it originally...do I need to rotivator this area, or can I lay 4 inches of topsoil directly over the old soil and turf?

Thankyou

  • stick the fork in and wiggel it about where the stones have been put the soil over it do the gardeners dance on the new soil and level it all up if you are butting up to exsisting grass you will have to take a strip of the old sod off about half inch deep so it comes in level with it then compact it down with 2 flat boards and a sledge hammer (not violentley) just tap it down along the boards
