had a simular problem a lot of years ago cant remember make or moddle but it had a sliding pin that engaged the drive to the wheel then released when you pulled it back. the pin had worn and stuck in the drive position i cut a nail of the right diameter and it was ok after that
Thanks for the response, once I get a moment I'll get the socket set out and take a look around. 👍🏻
Have a look at the parts diagram on below link. Might be your model is slightly different to the linked one, but the website has all the models. Looks like there is a ratchet mechanism for each rear wheel., which presume is what allows the wheel to free rotate backwards. At the listed price (<£15) it's probably as well just to buy the mechanism, although the individual parts are also possible to replace. Of course you can check that the ratchet is the cause of the fault first. Does the mower free wheel straight backwards when you pull it?
Might just be dirt built up inside the mechanism.

Thanks. It drives ok, it. Free wheels forwards and backwards ok and it it will make right hand turns (it will
pivot on the back wheels to make a right turn) but it won't do the same for a left turn.
I will have to start stripping down I think once I get a moment free.
