  •  I have a couple top roller model ( can't remember model). Within a year both have had full rear end rebuild which I'm not impressed about even though covered by warranty.

For such a expensive machine expect more than one season out of them.

On the plus side they stripe amazing with sharp blade and fill the bag to the brim even with wet grass.

    • Agree with what Sean says. All the Honda rollers are the same with poor quality gearbox and roller/shaft/bearing durability.

  • As said, if the newer ones are the same, the gearbox is a very poor design.............. there's no "gentle" engaging the drive like with a belt............ you're either in gear or not. As a result, the "clutch" wears very quickly and you start having trouble engaging gear eventually losing all drive.  If you are handy, you can replace the worn items for under £100.... not that difficult......... at the dealers you're looking at a lot of money particularly if they decide to replace the whole gearbox rather than just the 3 worn items that cause this. .

    •  After a good vid of how you strip these down as my faults was apparently caused by dirt getting into the rollers.

They are cleaned weekly plus not used on muddy lawns but my arguement is grass grows on? Soil!!

  • Same as all the other comments. My mate had one and the drive went about 2 weeks outside the 12 month warranty and it was too expensive to repair so he just bought a new machine. Not good enough at all for a machine that costs as much as they do unfortunately, which is a shame as they bag very well for a roller mower. This is why I personally now would not consider a mower without a minimum of a 2 year warranty.

    • Roller? Have you a link to it? I didn't think they did 2 year warranties, it's the same machine as the Lawnflite, Kubota, Cobra etc

    • I'd say if you're doing large areas with less stopping/starting, you might be lucky. You've also got to make sure you don't engage the drive whilst you're pulling it backwards to turn............. even so, unless you're handy to fix these things yourself, I'd avoid them.

    • I've found it online just by searching and yes it does have a 2 year pro warranty indeed. Useful to know, thank you.
