lawncare advertising on Yell.com

Yell have just added lawn care as a trade in its own category to their directory
Lawn care used to be a sub category of gardening.
The reason I mention this is they sell top positions for £200 + Vat
Normal entry price is about £175 + Vat
I have bought the position for the PR post code and appear top of the listing and will remain in that place, not rotating with the other 30-40 company's who also advertise lawn care as part of the services they do.
I feel its hard to know just were to advertise however I have used yell my-self recently when looking for a tyre depot or a florist to send out some flowers, so figure others must also use them to find services and do not know who to contact. Do they go with the first name they see or scroll through all the listings?

    yell.com is a complete waste of money, ive got an entry in landscaping and tree surgery categories, according to yells own statistics i get about 1 click per month! Will not be renewing next year.

    Yell isn't competitive in this market any more and fails miserably to maintain any kind of customer service level.

    nice listing it looks good

    what you have got for your money is a back link from your Yell page to your web site, that worth more than £200 per year any day of the week and will assist your web site in getting a better ranking at google

    I've just done a Google search for 'lawn care forum' (that's how I'd expect a domestic lawn owner to search in today's social media world) and Landscape Juice comes up as second result in over 18 million returns.

    I search for lawn care companies and Lawn Lover is on page 1 out of 26 million

    Yes, definitely. Where better to see how to look after one's lawn than to check out what the pros are doing;--0)

    Take into consideration any geographical variations and slight differences in search terms etc

    Try 'scarify a lawn' or 'when is the best time to scarify a lawm'

    Classic questions a potential client will be searching for on Google.

    Surely a customer looking for a company to do it would search for " lawn care companies in Edinburgh" or whichever town or city they live.
