Lawn weedkiller

Hi everyone,

Can someone tell me the best selective lawn weedkiller to use. I've been looking on the pitchcare and A1 lawns websites. I'm not sure which is the best all-rounder at the best price.

Thanks

Robert.

I find agritox and depitox give me the results I want when applied at the right time of weed growth and depending on what you need to control.

    • Hi Dave,

This is just for spot treatment on lawns I look after, so just your average weeds. Dandelions, clover, ect.

  • Best value for money Grazon or Thrust buy through an agricultural supplier generally cheaper than a horticultural supplier.

  • We use Praxys

  • Praxys/Depitox mix for me knocks out everything I come across in a lawn and costs more or less 96p for a 100 m2 lawn

    • Hi Tim. As a fellow Praxys user, you obviously find it worthwhile to spend the extra on adding the Depitox to it rather than just using it on its own. I'd always found Praxys on its own to be generally fine. Can I ask what you find the benefit to be in adding Deptiox to it please? I'm always happy to hear about how I can improve.

      • I was using Depitox only but it was leaving certain weeds wounded but not dead.I read, possibly on here, to tank mix it with Praxys and it knocks out more or less everything it comes into contact with. Very unscientific I know but the £1 it costs to do a 100 m2 lawn, about 22p of the mix is down to Depitox. I will though, try Praxys on its own on half a lawn sometime soon.

        • I wouldn't be surprised if there were some weeds that Depitox kills that Praxys doesn't, I was just being too lazy to read through all the labels 🙂

  • Hi Tim,

At what rate do you mix the two?

    Thanks

    Robert

    • I work requirements out for a 100m2 Robert. so it's 28ml of Depitox (2.8 l/h) and 15ml of Praxys (1.5 l/h) in the water you need for the 100m2 - If you have that already worked out for 100m2 its easy to calculate any lawn. Praxys you can only spray once a year but Depitox can be sprayed 3 times a year if needed. I double the water needed for 100m2 and do a double pass, up and down and side to side.
