Lawn air injection timing

As per thread title, I'm looking for some advice on best timing for using an air injection for heavy rutting and compaction on a clay based lawn.

After a spring of projects, croquet lawn installation and tennis court renovation where all access was across the main lawn, I have some deep ruts to deal with.

Unfortunately the tennis court contractors simply filled in the ruts before I was able to get to them. The ruts are too deep for machine based aeration so I am looking at air injection.

As I said above, it's on clay, so I'm assuming (I know, assumption being the mother of all f#%k ups) that the end of summer when the ground is drier and will fracture is the best time?

Any thoughts or alternative suggestions welcome.
