Large scale lawn care pricing

I've just picked up 2 new clients with large lawns totalling around the 900 sqm mark each. Not had any as large as this before and was wondering what ball park figure I should charge for a spot spraying weeds and granular fert application?I know my costs etc and I usually deal with lawns around or up to 100-150 sqm. My pricing is based on £35 per application for these. Curious to know What price bands brackets do people use.

  • You've a great starting point Alistair, you know how long it takes to treat a lawn (A)of 100sq m.so it's A x 9 + materials + profit. It will work out cheaper pro rata because you will have less travelling.

  • 900m2 isn't that big, should be quite straight forward once you get into it. Spot spraying depends on how many weeds there are! 10l in a knapsack typically covers 200m2 of full coverage. A bag of evergreen covers 400m2... I did a full granular application around 2000m2 a couple of weeks ago. Not a huge job at all.
  • got a price a couple of years back off Green Thumb for 3500m2 the price was £300 they did not get the job because he could not use the type of fert required i.e. slow release so as not to have a flush of growth he had to use what the franchiser supplied he even suggested putting it down at half rate (I said will it be half price) he did not get the job

another co got the job about £20 cheaper and supposedly sprayed the lawn by the time I had my cupper (could not believe it)  got him back after three weeks as non of the weeds were dying off he had to re spray and I stood and watched him

we now do it in house at half the cost

900 metres would be about £130 per treatment, if you buy the right kit it does not take very long at all, our spreader throws the fert out 3M wide. Quality weedkiller sorts the weeds usually on the first treatment so the repeat visits start becoming faster.
    • That was around the figure I had in mind. I have the everris (Scott's) spreader which as you say has a decent spread.
