Yes very effective but expensive, but it does what its supposed to.
  • As Brian said expensive, ordered it yesterday, comes in at just under £40 per half litre but its the only thing we've found that will kill it with one application

  • yes. it works,

  • Yes its great. as said you can be fairly sure it will kill it on the first go. I'll give you a measure of it at the weekend although it doesn't taste great...

I have a shrub bed full of mares tail, if I control the mares tail with Kurtail will it also kill the shrubs?

  • Robbie Kurtail is a systemic weed killer like glysophate,The only alternative to digging it out is to try a double glove application of Kurtail

  • I have never used glufosinate, sounds good treatment for mare's tail! We usualy treat mare's tail with glyphosate but first we like to damage or bruise the foliage with a rake before glyphosate application but this still takes several treatments! Are you saying you can apply glufosinate to mare's tail and kill with one application even without bruising or damaging the foliage?
  • takes maybe 2 times with clinic ace to kill it off, seems tough stuff!

  • Hi,

Just thought I would make you aware of a product that I posted about a couple of weeks ago called Whippet. The original post can be found here.

  • Paul, i have just noticed your comment.

Glufosinate is not a systemic herbicide. It is purely contact which means it will conly kill what it touches. It will not travel around the plant, or down to the root. This is what makes Glufosinate a safer alternative to glyphosate when used around trees and shrubs.

    Hope this clarifies.

    Cheers
