A well known business acroname is "KISS".
This stands for "Keep It Simple Stupid".
What it means is that if you can keep a business very simple, you are more likely to be able to make it a going concern, because repetition cuts costs and increases gross margins.
Many years ago we used to run several different types of businesses, One was for Hard Landscaping, one for maintenance, one for soft landscaping etc. Although all of them made a profit, I began to see the errors of my ways. So we got rid of the hard landscaping and soft landscaping business, and just do maintenance.
Why? Well, with "one off" jobs you have to spend a lot of time and money in working out the estimates, and you're always having to look for the next job.
With regular contract work you only do the estimate once, and the job may last for 10 years.
Think of McDonalds, Costa, Lidl, Aldi, Burger King, and many more, all operate the KISS system and make good returns.
