Japanese garden path

Hi everyone,

Happy new year!

I'm looking for some advice please. I am designing a Japanese garden and want to create a pathway with a cracked river-bed motif throughout and wonder which is the best stone to use to enable making curved and random edges between each stone. The important element of the river bed design are the joints between each stone. Here is a film I've taken influence from https://youtu.be/wSgfjRHf7Kk
