If Carlsberg Did Weeding Tools!
August 05 2014

As most of you are all aware, we at J S Country Tools attend as many country shows as we can. We love to interact with our growing customer base. This also allows us to ascertain the things that we are getting right, and more importantly what we are getting wrong!

After displaying our tools at a recent show, we were amazed at just how many visitors to our stand picked up our JST-101 Hand Root Tool. With over 35 different hand tools on display what was the attraction of this particular weeding implement? Why did the majority of our visitors feel the need to pick up and handle this product? After engaging discussions, we identified the root of the problem (excuse the pun), was the perennial weed!

It turns out that the majority of recreational gardeners or even one or two professionals just cant resist trying to pull out that little perisher even though experience tells us they just snap off at ground level. As we drilled down further we identified that the weed with the most pull appeal was the trusty dandelion. An ingenious little brightly coloured weed, hollow stemmed and an outstanding breeder.

But have no fear,J S Country Tools is here, and has the answer in our lovely little Hand Root Tool. I was once informed that the answer to a problem is the simplest solution you can find! A simple hand tool that's 330mm long from the tip of it's blade to the heal of it's handle. The bladed section is simply 40mm wide by 190mm in length. The blade, although not sharp, is angular enough to be driven into the soil in order to penetrate the soil just under the dreaded dandelion stem. With a bit of practice, the operator soon develops the feel for the operation and quickly removes the root system of the weed. We also find the product to be useful on lawned areas as the Hand Root Tool only removes a small amount of lawn which is then replaced.
